Glow gets the kids wound upOn Saturday 27th October National Youth Centre (NYC) representatives headed up a sports programme for approximately 300 children at their facilities in G-West. The programme was in partnership with The King’s Foundation but planning of the event was in the hands of John Kahindi (NYC). It is encouraging for us to see individuals like John start to initiate and organize such events on their own. It is also exciting to see the King’s Community respond to invitations to assist in such initiatives. Twenty strong pitched up Saturday morning to lead the children in games, sports skills, team chants, drama etc.

A huge thank you to Rotary Club Gaborone for their donation of 400 tennis balls before we began the progamme. Sports equipment is one of our largest reoccurring costs so we are very thankful for Rotary Club’s generosity and support of our community outreach programmes.

The days’ events consisted of: parachute games, relay races and colouring for the under 6s and football, benchball, scatch, hockey, danish longball, volleyball, cricket, tag rugby and basketball for the older ones. After a short break Oliver and Glow lead the group in AWANA and then a sit down programme where the children learnt the importance of helping out people in need. Jesus says the way you treat other people is the way you treat him. We looked at Matt 25 where Jesus says, “I was hungry and you fed me, thirsty and you gave me a drink…whatever you did for the least of these my brothers you did it for me.”
