Botswana Outreach Update – 12th January

(email update sent from team conducting 2-week trip to Ghanzi and Maun)

I finally managed to get online again so thought I’d let you know how things are going! We’ve almost finished the training time in Maun. It’s been awesome – I’m so proud of the guys. This training time was really professional. We ironed out all the little bumps from our time in Ghanzi and the whole thing has run really well.

We’ve had 33 delegates from One Way Sports, Love Botswana, other churches and some teachers too. Everyone is having a great time and our guys have really pumped them up in the same way as at the National Conference. They’re really excited about an AWANA kit staying in Maun – we’ll be leaving it with Ray and then other organisations can borrow it from them.

We’ve again had some great times of sharing and fellowship with our hosts here, and really connected with One Way Sports. Ray is keen to see our volunteers get involved with trainings run by the ISC and even for some of them to get to the ISLS in SA which is so exciting! Ray is also really keen to organise a kids games with us this year so we’ll see what happens. All in all it’s been great to be connected and partnered with the only other sports ministry organisation in Botswana.

The other cool thing was the sports camp yesterday. It was our biggest one yet with about 400 kids! It was awesome! We’re pumped up for a big AWANA today!

We had some car trouble while here in Maun. Farai was at a garage getting it fixed today so that we can move on to Gweta. We’ll be doing AWANA at Gary’s church tomorrow morning, a programme in Gweta and then hopefully moving on to Dukwi. It’s a bit
up in the air as things seem a bit unsettled at Dukwi Refugee Camp.

Anyways i must go…I will write again when i get home!

Ruth
