Mabutsane children introduced to the limbo (how low can you go?)

The King’s Foundation Botswana has spread its “wings” to Mabutsane village after a successful kick-start event in January 2008. Every Saturday morning for two hours about 45 to 70 children attend activities conducted by local leaders that were trained by The King’s Foundation. “The children that come on Saturday are 6-12 years old and most of them are RADS (Rural Area Dwellers, Students) who are under the care of Government,” said Tlhalefo Motswagole – Assistant District Officer. “I am excited about such development programmes and very proud of the local youth leaders (Beauty, Nomsa, Machika and Boingotlo) who are striving to see children’s lives transformed through sports,” Ms. Motswagole added.

Saturday morning programmes include AWANA, wacky races, relays, rope games, circle games, and a sit-down programme (story telling, drama and valuable life skills taught through biblical examples).

Recently, children together with their parents/guardians gathered to celebrate the Mabutsane Child Health Fair. Ms. Motswagole and her local leadership team conducted activities for the children at this event and had the District’s key stakeholders and honourable guests cheering on the children as they competed. Through The King’s Foundation children in Mabutsane are being supported and being given hope in a prosperous future.
