Baptist Youth Rally

August 28, 2009

The King’s Foundation was invited by Baptist Church Francistown to come and reach out to the youth of Baptists Church Botswana. This was a 5 day camp but we were able to avail ourselves to them on the 21st and 22nd of August 2009. On the 21st we were given a platform to speak to the youth on HIV/AIDS and purity. We started off with introductions and ice breakers by Shepherd and which were followed by a talk session for an hour which was facilitated by both Julia and Darius. We were granted more time to speak so for the next 30min we had group discussions where we gave the youth scenario’s and asked them what they would do to best get out of the situation without endangering themselves. The discussions were facilitated by the full team (Darius, Shepherd, Julia, and Bazwadzi).

This started at 14h00 and ended at 17h00, which is when we then left the camp site. On those two (2) days we we’re able to reach to 107 youth and 5 leaders

TREASURE HUNT

August 20, 2009

IMG_0623As the King’s Foundation Francistown, we would like to thank you for you support on our new initiative in encouraging the youth to abstain from sex. We would like to give you feedback on the activities that we’ve had so far and up coming events.

Treasure Hunt Competition

On the 15th of August 2009 we had a treasure hunt competition. Invitations were sent out to different churches and a deadline was given to confirm participation. Seven Churches confirmed their participation; PHC, Baptist Church, Community Church, Glorious Hope Ministry, Anglican Church, Restoration Church, and The Rock.

The meeting place was Nswazi Shopping Complex where we started off with praise and worship which was followed by a talk on abstinence. The theme of the Treasure Hunt; “Knowing who God has made you to be-Fighting HIV/AIDS, was aimed at giving statistics on the HIV/AIDS rate in Botswana and in Francistown, and but most importantly, letting the youth know that knowing who they are is knowing Christ. Using Nswazi Shopping Centre was also a way to let the public hear that there is a better way to defeat HIV/AIDS, which is through abstinence until marriage.

The participant were excited and enjoyed themselves as in King’s Foundation, everyone is a winner. The event was made possible by you, once again thank you.

King’s Cup

King’s cup which has been an ongoing and successful annual event is coming soon; 29th August 2009 at the Mater Spei grounds. Letters are being sent out to the churches and a response will be required by the 24th August 2009.
