April Fools, a typically precarious day filled with jokes, laughter, and pranks. The King’s Foundation Outreach team gathered the Rookie Leaders for a morning breakfast to celebrate the joyous holiday. We broke the ice by working efficiently as a team to cook and clean up the meal which prepared them for a serious discussion about the importance of integrity, leadership, and responsibility. To silence the chatter, Oliver came organized with a list of bible verses and valuable lessons to share with the Rookies.
The meeting’s main objective was to motivate the leaders, build strong relationships, and overcome the challenges in developing a program. Oliver emphasized punctuality and holding each other accountable for our actions and scheduled attendances. Another member presented a valid point to remain eye-level with the kids, act goofy, and become a kid yourself. The children thrive on the positive spirit. A young Rookie earned himself a t-shirt and hat for his hard work and commitment to the King’s Foundation.
During the afternoon, the group painted a brightly colored poster for the upcoming King’s Camp event. The Rookies actively joined together, created the sign, and then taught the English-speaking members a Setswana song. The short break helped regain focus to elaborate on the fun-factor games being implemented later during the sit-down session. The meeting provided a great opportunity to change the games and create new ones, escalating the excitement for everyone involved.
Once out on the field, the Rookies began their usual routine with chants, songs, and dances! Let’s just say, the children were animated, bouncing around, being silly! Afterward, parachute games, cricket, soccer, and tennis occupied the field, equally dividing the age groups. When time ran short, everyone reunited for water balloon tag and drinking contests! An older team member settled the kids down to introduce Heaven and its many fantastic assets. The King’s Foundation achieved several goals and objectives, slowly allowing the program to be entrusted under safe hands
