We are excited about our 2012 King’s Camps line-up of programmes. King’s Camps generates income for our charitable work in Southern Africa and provides employment opportunities for local coaches. Without King’s Camps we would not be able to conduct free programmes for less privileged children.

King’s Foundation Participant Now Leading the Way for Boys Soccer Program

Joe Peters is a volunteer for The King’s Foundation and coaches Soccer weekly at Mother Theresa Resource Centre (MTRC) in Francistown, Botswana. Before Joe became a coach he himself was once part of the children who would attend the weekly programs in Monarch. Throughout his time at the Centre he would participate in both outdoor games and sit down teachings on moral skills. Joe has grown up to be a reliable, hard-working and honest leader who is now giving back to the community through his services. Most of the children in Monarch are used to receiving and not doing anything but he seized the opportunity and he still stands out by making his time productive. He has become a role model of many boys in Monarch and parents are happy with him because their children’s behaviour has improved and they are being given an opportunity to explore their talents in sport.

Joe is a leader in the community. While his peers are “busy” engaging in devious activities Joe is investing his time wisely by giving back to his community and building up a new generation of young men that we pray will make good decisions in life and reach their potential.

We’re PROUD of you Joe!

People Living With Disabilities Utilize King’s Foundation BaSE Pack

This past week we had the privilege of visiting Thuso Rehabilitation Centre in Maun, Botswana. “Thuso” is a place where people living with disabilities stay and are provided with educational skills. During our short visit we conducted a brief Leadership training session for key personnel and left a BaSE Pack at the Centre.

We are confident that the dedicated staff we met will incorporate BaSE in to regular programmes, bringing additional recreation to those under the Centre’s care and promoting healthy lifestyle through exercises and sporting activities. We were very encouraged to find an active sports committee at the Centre. Over the years, Netball or Football have been the primary focus of activities but this has been due to a lack of resources. The BaSE Pack will be very useful because there are various games that can be adapted to suit everyone’s ability.

This past week we heard from a good friend of ours…John Kahindi. We’ve written about John before so if you’re interested in greater detail please check out this post from May 2009. John continues to work for Disney Cruise Lines and he “stopped in” to say a few nice words.

We’re proud of you John!
